Building a diverse and sustainable workforce takes more than just a living wage. The need for reliable transportation, affordable housing, and accessible support services is needed to get ahead. Black Men Coalition Foundation is creating an integrated system that helps people help employers and the economic future of our community.

Built-In Accountability: employees are active members of the Black Men Coalition Foundation which provides wrap-around support services including case management.

Specialized Employment Placement Agency: sourcing, screening, and qualifying candidates for your specific needs for permanent or temporary placement.

Transportation: reliable transportation is often a barrier to consistent and dependable attendance. Black Men Coalition Foundation provides transport to and from workplaces.

Hiring Options: Direct Hire vs. Temp-to-Hire

Direct Hire - Placement hired as a regular, benefits-eligible employee of the organization that includes paying an agreed upon minimum, including all applicable payroll taxes, unemployment and fees associated with onboarding.

Temp-to-Hire - Employ placements for 90 days (Black Men Coalition Foundation administers all payroll and related expenses). After 90 days and satisfactory job performance, the individual is hired (no additional fees apply).

  • Have a point of contact for Black Men Coalition Foundation to assist in coordinating efforts with responsibilities to recruit, onboard, train, and manage performance of staff. 
  • Provide access to Black Men Coalition Foundation to be onsite periodically (scheduled) to observe, meet with staff and supervisors.

What Does Black Men Coalition Foundation (BMC) Do for Interested Employers?

  • BMC will recruit and vet candidates that are reliable and capable of the job duties and present the attributes consistent with the values and culture that makes up the work environment of your organization. 
  • BMC will provide transportation for the individual to and from work. 
  • BMC will provide support to the employee outside of the employment relationship by providing opportunities for self-development, including, but not limited to, soft skills development, working in teams, and financial literacy. 
  • We also provide support to direct supervisors in strategies of managing a diverse workforce as BMC will be in direct, regular communication with staff and the organization’s supervisors for an agreed upon number of months. 
  • We will work closely with an organization to off-board an employee who is no longer able to work, is no longer a good fit for the work, or chooses not to work at an organization. 
  • We provide general safety training and workplace etiquette training in advance of employment.

What Do Employers Need to Do?

  • Provide a job with a minimum of $20.00 per hour. 
  • Have a point of contact for Black Men Coalition Foundation to assist in coordinating efforts with responsibilities to recruit, onboard, train, and manage performance of staff. 
  • Provide employability criteria and hiring policies, as well as an understanding of skills and/or aptitudes needed for each position. 
  • Provide access to Black Men Coalition Foundation to be onsite periodically (scheduled) to observe and meet with the staff and supervisors.
