About Us

Our Non-Profit Aims to Create a Stronger Community With Growth Opportunities

Our Mission

Our mission is to foster and develop a safe and inclusive environment for those most vulnerable in Dane County through community involvement, mentorship, education, employment skills, and supported housing. By providing these opportunities we believe we are generating a sense of belonging, which is critical to social and emotional development (all genders and all races).

Our Vision

We're focused on creating positive outcomes for vulnerable populations. We strive to open doors for those most vulnerable to allow them to have a variety of opportunities and positive representation in the community. Our members and volunteers provide resources that help us affect change, and our goal is to provide the resources and solutions to influence positive change and independent living in the lives of those we serve.

Our Purpose

Black Men Coalition Foundation is led by black men who have beaten the school-to-prison pipeline and other systemic barriers. Each brings personal insights and experience on how best to serve our people. The population we can reach are those who don’t trust the human service systems or don’t even know there are programs out there to help them. We break down barriers to what is possible and help everyone see their value.

We provide direct and integrated support services to men and women who are willing to take a proven leap of faith to immerse themselves into an environment that is different from what they may know. These may be formerly incarcerated, underemployed, or unemployed individuals. Of the 100+ people who have been through our program to date, 78% have been Black men ages 16 to 55.

Black Men Coalition Foundation, a pioneer in Dane County, Wisconsin, paves the way to disrupt the poverty-prison-poverty cycle. It achieves this by combining employment, transportation, and supported housing services. Additionally, it offers comprehensive support like financial education, mental health service access, and opportunities for personal growth.

Our History

In 2020, during the wake of unprecedented global movements for social justice, Black Men Coalition was founded with a dedicated mission to uplift black men and youth and dismantle pervasive stereotypes. At its core, the guiding principle was to create a world where equality isn't just an ideal but a reality for all. At that time, our organization focused on community outreach, educational programs, and advocacy initiatives specifically designed to empower the black male community. Through hard work, perseverance, and the unwavering support of our donors and volunteers, we were able to make significant strides toward our goals and expand our support and services.
